Are You Interested in Sailing?
In addition to spending a day on a sailboat, you might consider competing in sail boat races during one of our Sunday regattas, or cheering on a friend or family member. We compete on the lake with other clubs. Have you ever been out on the Lake? We’d love to teach you how to sail. Just join a fleet like the C-18’s or the C-14's, get free training and take out a boat ... all part of your membership benefits. Also, your children or grandchildren can learn how to sail. We have a very successful Summer Sailing Academy for young sailors led by highly qualified instructors. Students in our classes end up loving to sail and, after a week or two, even compete in races. We have a full season of regattas in which all age levels compete with and get to know sailors from other clubs.
How About Kayaking?
We have a whole rack of free kayaks and, once you join the fleet, we will teach you how to paddle. If you are out early in the morning when the lake is still, you may see the swans or be greeted by an incoming flock of Canada Geese. Kayakers party together too. We have kayak fleet gourmet dinners at members’ homes each month. Come and join us.
Would You Like to Dance?
We have our own house band, Around the Sound, that performs throughout the year. Also, there are numerous caterers, orchestras and performers at special events like our Sweetheart’s Ball, the formal Commodore’s Ball, our annual Luau and Lobster Fest. We periodically have dances with live music at our weekly Friday socials.
Come to an Open House
You are welcome to attend our open house events on a Sunday afternoon in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Check the Calendar tab for the exact date and time. In addition to meeting our members, check out our deck and enjoy great food and drink. Our staff will be happy to answer all your questions. Who knows, you might get a free boat ride on the lake.
Dinner and a Movie
On selected Monday nights, we have a delicious dinner, cooked at the club by member chefs together with a recent film. We might even take requests. If you help clean up, or even if you don’t, it’s only $10.
Renting the Club
The Westlake Yacht Club is also a place to enjoy life, make new friends, and have a new home away from home on the water. Check out our social schedule, access to boats and our member’s stories. We offer a substantial discount to regular members for renting the club house for weddings, company parties or family celebrations. We will be happy to have you talk with our Catering Sales Manager.
Westlake Yacht Club offers a one-time, 3-month Trial Membership for $500 where a person or couple can experience the Westlake lifestyle and explore the full benefits of WYC membership. This 3-month trial membership is open to all those who are interested. There are no requirements to live on the lake or own a boat. An application form is available above - just click on the link and download the packet.
Please contact Membership Chairs Frances or Bob Coutts for information about the club via our Contact Form or by calling the Club at (818) 889-4820. Or, if you prefer, drop by the club house and pick up a brochure. On Friday nights, Sunday Regattas and Open Houses there is always someone there to talk to about membership.
